This statement describes two different things: information processed locally by the SQL2Snow application, and information you may choose to provide through sql2snow.com.
SQL2Snow Desktop Application
SQL2Snow Community Edition is a Windows application for assessing SQL Server databases for migration to Snowflake.
SQL2Snow performs assessments locally. Database metadata and assessment results are not transmitted to SQL2Snow.
The application does not include telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or automatic usage reporting.
SQL2Snow includes links that you may choose to open for updates, support, feedback, bug reports, feature requests, and assessment reviews. These links open external websites in your browser only when you select them. SQL2Snow does not include database metadata, assessment results, credentials, or other application data in these requests. External websites may process information such as your IP address and browser information according to their own privacy practices.
When you connect to a SQL Server instance, the application communicates directly with the server you specify. That connection is part of using the tool against your own environment. It is not a transmission of database data to SQL2Snow as a vendor service.
Assessment outputs, such as reports and related files, are stored locally on the machine where you run SQL2Snow. SQL2Snow does not transmit database credentials to SQL2Snow. By default, CLI configuration uses environment-variable references for passwords. A user may explicitly choose to store credentials in a local configuration file and is responsible for protecting that file.
Information You Provide
sql2snow.com includes optional forms for assessment review requests, support messages, feedback, bug reports, and feature requests. Submitting a form is voluntary. There is no account registration and no email signup for updates.
Depending on the form, you may provide:
- Name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Company
- Application version, operating system, and SQL Server version
- Approximate assessment scope, such as number of databases, stored procedure counts, or timeline
- Category or priority
- Messages, notes, reproduction steps, expected or actual behavior, use cases, and proposed solutions
Please do not submit connection strings, passwords, or other secrets. Share only the details needed for us to respond.
Website and Technical Information
This website does not use advertising pixels or visitor-analytics tags such as Google Analytics.
SQL2Snow’s website scripts do not set cookies and do not use localStorage or sessionStorage to identify or track visitors.
When you submit a form, the submission is sent to our form service. We store the information you entered, a submission identifier, the time of submission, any optional context included with the request, and technical details such as IP address and browser user-agent. We also send a notification email so we can respond.
When you visit the website or download a file, our hosting provider may process ordinary technical information associated with the request, such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and date and time. This is part of delivering the site, maintaining security, and operating the service. We do not use the website to profile visitors for advertising.
Downloads
You can download SQL2Snow without creating an account and without providing an email address. Download links do not include personal identifiers. A download is a normal web request for a file hosted with this website.
How Information Is Used
We use information you provide through the website to:
- Respond to inquiries and support requests
- Review assessment review requests
- Investigate bug reports
- Consider feature requests
- Maintain and secure the website and form service
- Deliver the services you request
Sharing of Information
We use Amazon Web Services to host the website, process form submissions, store submitted records, and send notification email. Those service providers process information on our behalf so we can operate sql2snow.com.
If a form cannot be submitted directly, you may choose to send the same message through your own email application. In that case, your email provider processes the message.
We do not sell personal information.
If you open an optional link from the SQL2Snow application, the destination website (including sql2snow.com, if that is where the link goes) may process ordinary technical information as described above.
Data Retention
We retain form submissions and related records as needed to respond to your request and operate the website. We do not publish a fixed retention period. You may contact us about information you previously submitted.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information submitted through the website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
The application’s local-first design means assessment processing stays on the machine where you run SQL2Snow. That limits what SQL2Snow receives as a vendor. It is not a guarantee that files or systems on your own network cannot be accessed by others who already have access to those systems.
Your Choices
You can download and use SQL2Snow without submitting a website form.
You can choose not to open optional links from the application.
You control what you enter on a form. Required fields vary by form. Support and most other forms require a name and email. Feedback requires a message; name and email are optional so you can submit anonymously.
